no it doesn't require battery for door to open. I've not come across this yet. might be something sticky in the switch or along door.

Very strange. Not sure why that’s happening. Do you have a junk roll of film to run through it to see if it takes in the film? Only thing I can think is it’s stuck thinking film is inside.

The small hole is how you unlock the battery door when you press it in. Sounds like yours might be faulty.

yeah these are super annoying to open. I guess the thought is that you don't need to access the battery very often so make it more of a permanent function.

@@TeddyJuras It looks like mine is really broken, when the lens comes out the screen immediately turns off, and if I want to close it I have to turn the lens so it goes in and can be closed

I believe deluxe just adds quartz-date. Where you can put a time stamp on photos. I’m not sure 💯 but maybe someone else here knows? 👍

Oh no that’s not good. Not recognizing film. Inside film door there are metal contacts. Use same strategy of white vinegar and cotton swab and wipe those. See if that helps. 👍

Yikes! Try hitting it with some wd-40 and letting it sit. Works great at breaking down rust. Also make sure to have the proper screw driver size. 👍

When you have your film developed they usually give you digital versions you can download to your phone. I use Mpix to do this and you can get your first roll of film developed with them for less than $10 using this link bit.ly/10OffDeveloping

There isn’t a way to know the camera is in focus visually. Some of these film cameras have the “half press” ability or “prefocus” where you lightly press the shutter button to get focus and then fully press to take picture. I’m not sure if this camera has that. 📸

50mm is great for portraits but probably want something wider for landscapes. I know the f2 is a nice lens. 28mm is a great idea for landscapes. 2.8 is probably fine. I don’t have a ton of experience with these particular lenses so not sure if sharpness differs etc… maybe someone in the community will have more input on that?

Nice! Gotta say it’s one of my favorite form factor/designed film cameras I’ve played with. I’ve not shot a roll of film in one yet but it’s super popular in my camera shop. 👍

@@TeddyJuras I just ordered a roll of 35 mm film for it yesterday, just to see if it works. I also have a Polaroid miniportrait that was given to me by my Aunt, I ordered film for it also.

Sadly there is no flash on or off button or any way to know if it’s going to fire or not. It makes the decision for you based on environment. You can force the flash to go off by covering the sensor, but you can’t stop it from flashing in low light. 📸

@thisiskaleidoscopic If I remember correctly the film counter usually disappears but the battery level is always on. Is this what you see? 👍

Mine is slightly different where it's also got a record date digital screen on the back under the battery screen. But based on what you're saying it seems as though those stay on at all times! Thanks so much for letting me know this!! You're the best!@@TeddyJuras

Try wiping the silver contacts where you put the film. Let me know if this works. 👍

I do! This is the month actually. Will be giving away a canon sure shot 60 zoom this month and will do some videos about the camera, sample photos etc 👍

Yes pretty much the same camera and love both of them. Nice feel, light weight, and lens retracts into body. Have you shot and compared any photos? 👍

I have a roll of film in each one that I haven’t finished, I’ve been busier with my new to me Konica c35. I’ll check back later.. I like shooting with the Telemax a little better, but the Max just looks cooler with the green lettering

Hard to say as I haven’t shot a roll on either but I can tell you the epic zoom 80 is much more popular. They are probably pretty similar so I’d go with the one you feel is better for you ergonomically. How it feels in your hand 👍
